FAQ

Q: IF WE ARE COMMITTING TO UNLEASHED, HOW DOES THIS CHANGE MY GIVING TO MISSIONS, THE GENERAL FUND, AND OTHER SPECIAL OFFERINGS?

A: During this two-year period, every contribution to God through Rush Creek is a contribution to our Unleashed initiative. This means that everything from our general ministry budget, community events, local and global missions, and even campus expansion will be fueled through the Unleashed initiative.

Therefore, every contribution for the next two years will help Unleash the power, the potential, and the people of Rush Creek toward the vision God has given us.

Q: IF WE ARE GIVING TO THE PEN PAL PROGRAM, SHOULD WE CONTINUE?

A: Yes. The PEN Pal program is a special initiative that supports the families served by our El Salvador campus. This program links your family with a family in El Salvador to provide food, education, and other critical resources. These partnerships are vital to the health of this community. If you have any questions about the PEN Pal program please visit our website at rushcreek.org/compassion/pen-pal or contact Brian McFadden at .

Q: WHAT ARE YOU ASKING ME TO DO?

A: First and foremost, we are asking that you pray and seek God’s leading on what He is asking of you. Prepare your heart to hear Him, and then listen to what He says. Engage in a Life Group during this season, if you haven’t already. Spend time in personal reflection with God in the Unleashed Booklet. Talk with your spouse, family, and others about what this commitment will mean for this next exciting season of your life.

We are asking that you make a sacrificial commitment to gospel- centered generosity – whatever it is that God leads you to do. Follow His leading.

Finally, we ask that you prepare to be amazed. It is an awesome God that we serve and He is going to move in huge ways as we anticipate an unprecedented impact from our collective Unleashed commitments – something only God can do. Plan to be here for every  week of the Unleashed series beginning October 8th and pray about returning your commitment card on Sunday, November 12th.

Our prayer is that you genuinely take a fresh look at your generosity and that Unleashed marks a defining moment in your life and the life of our church.

Q: ARE THERE ADDITIONAL WAYS BESIDES CASH THAT I CAN GIVE MORE TOWARDS UNLEASHED?

A: Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give towards Unleashed. You might have some stocks, property, or even some stored resources that God has blessed you with and might be calling you to give out of during this time. Please let us know if you need assistance with facilitating gifts of property or stock, and we would be happy to help you with that. You can contact Shelly Ramsey at to make a gift of this type.

Q: HOW LONG IS MY COMMITMENT?

A: We are asking that everyone make a two-year commitment, which is 24 months. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin on Sunday, December 3, 2017 and it will culminate in December of 2019.

Q: WHAT IF I AM SEVERELY IN DEBT RIGHT NOW? AM I STILL SUPPOSED TO GIVE?

A: If you are someone currently seeking to make payments to pay off debt right now, we commend you for making progress on that. And you should continue to do so. We would be happy to assist you in this journey by helping you get signed up for our next Financial Peace University class.

Keep in mind that giving isn’t about what God wants from you but rather what He wants for you, and look for creative ways that you can sacrifice to participate in the Unleashed initiative. Please contact us if you need any assistance with this or if you would like to speak with someone about FPU, and we would be honored to help.

Q: WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER EVEN GIVEN TO RUSH CREEK BEFORE?

A: Unleashed was crafted specifically with you in mind. Unleashed is a “one fund” generosity initiative, meaning that it is different from a traditional capital campaign where you are called to give an extra gift above and beyond your normal giving - thus creating two steps for people who aren’t yet giving. Unleashed is a call to sacrificial, gospel-centered generosity for absolutely everyone at Rush Creek. If you have never given before, this is your chance to get in the game with a committed sacrifice. We really hope you will.

Q: WHAT IF I AM NEW AROUND HERE?

A: Unleashed is about the vision for our church and our personal discipleship in giving as followers of Jesus. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give towards, and we would really love for you to make Rush Creek your home and join us in Unleashed. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make this your church. We need you on the team!

Q: WHAT IF I HAVEN’T BEEN BAPTIZED YET?

A: Great question. People take different spiritual steps at different times. Some people begin praying before they begin attending church. Others begin going to a Life Group before they begin talking to God in prayer. Giving is another spiritual step, and it comes at different times for different people. One thing is for sure, however. Just like other spiritual disciplines, giving draws us closer to God. And God is calling ALL of us to give. The Bible says: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19). Whether you have taken the spiritual step of baptism or whether you haven’t yet, we would encourage you to still join us in this Unleashed initiative. We firmly believe that it will draw you closer to God and hopefully to a place where you are ready to make the decision to be baptized and to surrender your life to Christ.

Q: Is Unleashed just about money?

A: Unleashed is a generosity initiative that will enable us to fulfill the vision God has given us to make a greater impact for Him and push back the darkness. Of course generosity includes money, but it’s much more than that. We are asking for everyone who calls Rush Creek home to cooperate with the Spirit in a way that challenges you to take all aspects of your generosity (time, talent, and treasure) to a new level. Unleashed is not just about money, but discipleship always includes how we manage what God has entrusted to us. Another translation of Matthew 6:21 says, “The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be.”Money is THE litmus test to indicate where our hearts are. We pray each of our hearts have kingdom impact at the forefront.
